fine art instruction
OUR ART STUDIO is dedicated to teaching students how to see the world through the eyes of an artist. Our students are trained to appreciate and understand composition, drawing and perspective, light and shadow, and how to paint using a limited palette of red, blue and yellow.

OUR CLASSES are kept small to ensure that everyone grows at his or her own pace. Believe it or not. everyone can learn to draw and paint. And the feelings of confidence and satisfaction that are gained by mastering these skills are invaluable.

BROCHA TEICHMAN, our instructor, is a contemporary realist painter working in many mediums. She was educated in classical oil painting at the Art Students League in New York where she has spent over a decade perfecting her craft. She has taught drawing and painting at the Sephardic Community Center in Brooklyn, and individually to adults and children.

Since establishing her teaching institute five years ago, the Art Studio of the Five Towns has grown in popularity, maintaining an annual enrollment of over 250 children, and the number grows each year. Brocha takes seriously the idea that one is never finished their art education. She continues to study with master painters in order to acheive excellence in her work and to pass on more to her students. Of late, Brocha has branched out into painting en plein air, which is a method of painting outdoors, from nature, with an emphasis on capturing the immediacy of light.

Together with her partner Zelda Weiss, Brocha is currently organizing a series of workshops that will be held in the Spring and Fall of 2009 in New York City. Paint New York Art Workshops Inc., will hold weeklong painting workshops that will be given by a variety of well-known plein air masters from around the country. The emphasis of these workshops will be on learning to paint streetscapes of New York.
